WhatsApp has released a new app for Windows with expanded group call participant limits and an updated interface.

WhatsApp on Thursday released a new app for Windows that it claims loads faster and can host group video calls for up to 8 people and audio calls for up to 32 people. The new desktop app has also been designed to look like its mobile counterpart.

The new version also supports synchronization between multiple devices, which means you can continue to use WhatsApp on Windows even without a phone. There are also features like link previews and stickers.

The messaging platform is also testing a new beta version for Android tablets and Mac desktop computers, but it’s currently in the “early stages.” The company introduced a new Mac client in public beta in June 2022 that brought optimizations based on Apple Silicone.

The limit of 8 people for video calls and 32 people for audio calls will increase over time, WhatsApp says.

WhatsApp is rolling out new features. The new Windows app comes just a day after Mark Zuckerberg announced several new updates to Groups that give administrators more control over their group privacy and make it easier for users to see what groups have in common.
