WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will allow iPhone users to transfer their chat history and media files from one device to another without using iCloud backup. As per a report by WaBetaInfo, the new feature called ‘Transfer Chats to iPhone’ will be available for some beta testers after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 18.104.22.168 update.
How to transfer chats using the new feature?
Once the feature is available, users need to go to WhatsApp Settings > Chats and use the new feature to transfer their chat history to another iPhone without relying on iCloud. After downloading WhatsApp on their new phone and registering on the app with the same phone number, users can scan the QR code shown on the new phone using their old device to transfer their chat history.
Advantages of the new feature
The new feature is expected to offer an easier and efficient way for users to transfer their WhatsApp chat history and media files from one device to another without relying on iCloud. It will be especially helpful for users who cannot save chat history to iCloud due to the 5GB free storage limit or those who do not want to pay for an upgrade to their iCloud storage.
