Mumbai Indians went all-in for Ishan Kishan and Jofra Archer last season with the aim of building a team for the future. They repeated similar heroics this time too by spending a whopping Rs. 17.50 crore to rope in Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. After a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, MI finally got their hands on a big player.
Green also became the second most expensive player in IPL history. It has registered at a base price of Rs. 2 million but broke records. Other than Green, MI roped in Jhye Richardson at a base price of INR 1.5 million. In the later stages, they added Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Shams Mulani, Nehal Vadhera and Vishnu Vinod to their team at their base prices.
Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have always spent money wisely during the IPL auctions. Going into the IPL 2023 auctions, they had Rs. They have 20.55 million left in their purse, with nine slots to fill including three overseas players. Last season they did not record a memorable game and finished at the bottom of the points table.
But things will change this time as Mumbai Indians did really well in the IPL 2023 auctions held on Friday, December 23 in Kochi. They already had big names like Jasprit Bumrah, Kishan, Suryakumar and Archer among others on their side. And the addition of Cameron Greene to the roster has bolstered their squad. The upcoming 16th edition of the cash-rich event is sure to be a big one for Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles over the years. Rohit Sharma was brilliant as the captain of the team.
