In July 2022, the Government of India blocked access to Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in the country in accordance with its laws. Based on the order, the BGMI app was pulled from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Citizens could not download the game from any official source. However, those who already had the games installed on their smartphone could play the game without major outages.
But soon after, users started reporting problems with servers across the country. Now, new information floating online claims that BGMI could soon be back on the Play Store and App Store in the month of January 2023. Shortly after the ban, Krafton assured its players that they are in talks with the Indian government to bring the game back as soon as possible. Although we didn’t really get any official statement regarding the BGMI unban after that.
According to AFKGaming, Pratik “Alpha Clasher” Jogiya and Sohail “Hector” Shaikh claimed that BGMI will return to Android very soon. In a recent live stream, Alpha Clasher was joined by another player named predatorsasuke, who claimed to work at Google and revealed the tentative debut date of BGMI. “You would be very excited,” he said, “BGMI will launch on the Google Play Store on January 15; this is a tentative date.” After this webcast, Hector was asked about the BGMI comeback in one of his recent streams. “According to someone at Google, the game is coming back in January,” he claimed. I’m not directly aware of this, but I heard it.”
“He is a leader in the Google community. It doesn’t matter if someone in the gaming community claims that the game is coming back. This person said the game will return on January 15th. I even asked Thug about it and he said he would notify me two weeks before the game’s release,” Hector continued. “So we’ll let you know two weeks before the game returns.
Let’s see what actually happens after the prescribed timeline. Maybe we’ll finally get the game back in the country soon.
