Following the rumours, ASUS has confirmed the launch of the ROG Phone 7, the company’s next gaming phone, in India and global markets on April 13. This is coming a bit early this year compared to the ROG Phone 6 which was introduced in July 2022.

The teaser from Taiwan reveals two phones. However, based on earlier rumors, the company could release ROG Phone 7, ROG Phone 7D and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, all with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and 165Hz AMOLED screen.

The ASUS AI2205_D, which appeared earlier this month with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 16GB of RAM and Android 13, is believed to be the ROG Phone 7D. It is unclear if the company is planning a Dimensity 9200 version of the phone.

The ASUS ROG Phone 7 launch starts at 8:00 PM IST and 5:20 PM IST in India on April 13. We can expect a separate live stream for India revealing the prices.

We should know more details about the ROG Phone 7 series, including specifications, as the phone will be certified in the coming weeks.

Asus has announced that the Asus ROG Phone 7 will be launched globally on April 13. Although there’s no official word on the number of incoming models, it’s fair to expect at least two — the ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 7 Pro. Also, we can expect Asus to make an India-focused pricing announcement at the same time, as it has typically done for the past few generations (although availability hasn’t been relatively quick).

The launch of the ROG 7 will be livestreamed on Asus’ website and social media on April 13 at 8:00 PM Taipei time (which is approximately 5:30 PM in India). You can also watch it from the link embedded below.

In terms of hardware, the ROG Phone 7 will most likely come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It would be interesting to see if Asus will launch a MediaTek-based version, now or later. Also, a 165Hz screen is almost a given given what we got in the current generation, but we’ll see.

The ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro both feature a 6.78-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sample rate. Under the hood, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor paired with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of expandable UFS3.1 storage.

Powering the pack is a 6,000mAh battery split into two 3,000mAh cells, and you get two USB C ports for charging. The ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro support 65W fast wired charging, but in India, Asus supplies a 30W charger in the box.

For photography, you get a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor paired with a 13MP ultrawide and another 5MP macro. There is a 12MP selfie shooter on the front. Two front-facing speakers, triple microphones, a headphone jack and IPX4 splash resistance complete the package.
