Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G phone services in India at India Mobile Congress 2022 at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. This will usher in the era of ultra high speed internet for the nation. It was launched for a few cities on Saturday, but will gradually cover the rest of the country over the next few years. 5G technology will ensure seamless coverage, high data speed, low latency and highly reliable communication. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.

The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is estimated to reach $450 billion by 2035.

The fifth generation or 5G services are expected to bring new economic opportunities as well as social benefits to the nation. Three major telecom companies – Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea – have submitted their bids along with the Adani Group in the 5G spectrum auction.

5G runs on two distinct architectures and Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have each chosen the one that suits them. You can now expect faster internet speeds and lower latency on your 5G phone.

Almost five years after India embarked on a journey to launch the next generation of mobile phones, 5G services have arrived in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 1) launched 5G services in select cities, ushering in an era of ultra-high-speed internet on mobile phones and devices.

After inaugurating the exhibition at Pragati Maidan here, he toured the pavilions set up by various telecom operators and technology providers to experience first-hand what 5G can do.

Telecommunication operators will gradually start rolling out today.

Mukesh Ambani says Reliance Jio’s 5G services will be available across India by December 2023. “India may have started late, but it will finish first…it will have the best quality and most affordable 5G services.”

Sunil Mittal says Bharti Airtel will start rolling out today and offer 5G services across India by March 2024. Mr. Mittal also praised Mr. Ambani, saying, “Mukesh gave 4G speed and we also had to run.”

The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is estimated to reach $450 billion by 2035.

Now that it has been launched, it won’t take long to reach everyone, PM Modi said while launching 5G services in India.

“This technology should not be limited to just making voice calls or watching videos. This should be used to bring about a revolution,” he said, adding that in the near future, the country will work on technologies that will make India a global leader.
